Simply an institution in the Amberg - Sulzbach district. If you don't know the cream puffs there, you don't know how cream puffs should taste.

Got carp, sour roast and wild boar roast today, Sunday at noon. It was delicious and very fresh! I can only recommend. We'll definitely do it again.

Always happy, very good food, whether fish or meat or for vegetarians. Lovingly prepared and served. Definitely leave space for dessert or homemade strudel, cakes or pies and much more, to finish off in the butcher's shop for sausage, wild ham, etc. I almost forgot, great staff and very friendly.

As regulars we wanted to make a reservation for tomorrow by phone today. The call was made between 1:45 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. After I simply asked whether the table assigned to us happened to be in the adjoining room, the answer was: "Tomorrow is a communion service. I will certainly not mess up all the planning just so you can sit out there." In the aftermath of the phone call, I was so annoyed that I made a reservation elsewhere and canceled the table at Erlhof a few minutes later. In short, the reaction was: "Then I wish you a nice day tomorrow. Hear again". If you were customer-oriented, you would at least apologize for the lack of decency of your colleague. Perhaps it was the same lady on the second call. The food in the Elrhof is okay, but meanwhile it has become such a mass processing that it is probably also affecting the psyche of the staff. This is how you can cuddle your regular customers ... Then you better go somewhere else!

A traditional inn. The cream puffs have a reputation far beyond. Roast and Co. Very tasty. Staff friendly and on the ball. You should make a reservation urgently, especially on weekends all hell breaks loose.

Were there yesterday with a large group, the selection is terrific, the taste is extremely good, the plate language is very stimulating and the food simply makes you happy, cooked with a lot of love. Service mostly nice and friendly. Waiting times in the afternoon were a bit difficult so 4 stars but otherwise absolutely recommendable as the way is worthwhile in any case.

Best carp far and wide. The quality of the salad is always special. You can recognize good gastronomy by the salad.

Here’s an odd recommendation I’ll title “Best restaurant to visit on a weekend road trip in 300 kms.” This place is special and totally worth the effort. I’ve been visiting the Erlhof for over 20 years and it’s one of my favorite restaurants in Germany. Hidden in the woods in a tiny farm village of only a few hundred folks (and where every fourth person probably works at the Erlhof) it’s family run, totally local, and those that know travel hundreds of kilometers to eat here. Built up around a family butcher shop that goes back generations, all the meat is fresh and as local as it gets. Nice when you want to get out of Prague for a day. Suggestion - Go walk around Amberg, (this takes less than an hours - small town), spend a couple hours in the excellent Amberg swimbad, and finish up with a short drive out of town to the Erlhof for a grilled meat mix “giegenspis” (“hanging mixed grill for two”) and the “windbeutel” (lighter than air puff pastry filled with fresh whipped cream and strawberries) for desert. You will be glad you made the trip!

Were here during the week food. We were greeted very nicely and served. The food was excellent and the dessert was very delicious. There are always special dishes and it was also very well presented.
